About Ellisons

Ellisons is a leading regional law firm with a rich history of more than 250 years. Operating across Essex, Suffolk, and Norfolk, the firm provides a broad range of legal services, including residential conveyancing, commercial law, employment immigration, family dispute resolution and injury services. The firm has grown significantly in recent years and now employs over 300 people. Following the shift towards digital court submissions after COVID-19, Ellisons implemented Bundledocs to simplify and standardise its document bundling process across the firm.

The Challenges

Following the shift to digital court submissions after COVID-19, Ellisons needed a more consistent and efficient way to prepare electronic court bundles. Prior to Bundledocs, Ellisons relied on a combination of third-party providers and several internal applications to prepare court bundles, causing several key challenges:

“Before that, people would have just printed documents out and posted them. Some of these bundles are enormous and that’s a lot of someone’s time. We also used third parties that we paid separately to do the bundling for us digitally,” explains Robbie, IT Manager at Ellisons.

Ellisons needed a single, reliable platform that could simplify bundle preparation, reduce duplication and give legal teams a consistent way to produce court-ready bundles.

The Solution

Ellisons selected Bundledocs following a one-month proof of concept with users from its family dispute resolution and injury services teams – departments with high volumes of court-facing work.

“The implementation was easy, as all you have to do is set up the account. We use NetDocuments, and this links with Bundledocs, which was a nice plus. We only needed one training session. Bundledocs lays it out in such a way that you have each step and it’s obvious what sequence you need to follow to get your bundle at the end of it. People picked it up quickly,” Robbie said.

Unlike previous technology rollouts, resistance to change was minimal.

“It was probably the quickest adoption we’ve had of teams actually wanting to use something. People had become fed up with other products there were using, this was a breath of fresh air.”
